Starting March 1, 2025, the Junges Kolleg (Young Academy) of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities (BAdW) will welcome five outstanding researchers from Bavaria.

Since its founding in 2010, the Junges Kolleg has established itself as a prestigious program supporting exceptional postdocs. Of the 46 researchers admitted so far, 26 have gone on to professorships in Germany and abroad, cementing its role as a career accelerator for early career researchers.

Among the newly selected members is Christoph Heilig, head of the research group "Focalization in Early Christian Narratives" at LMU Munich. His project, "Theology Between Sacred Scriptures and AI-Generated Texts," explores the impact of large language models on the interpretation of the New Testament and examines theology’s role in the AI discourse. The research aims to provide insights into the competition between human and machine-generated texts, from academic research to literary creativity.

Junges Kolleg members receive an annual research stipend of €12,000 and benefit from honorary membership in the BAdW, granting them access to a distinguished scholarly network for interdisciplinary and intergenerational exchange. The standard membership lasts three years, with a possible extension to six years. The program is funded by the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts.
