The historic Main Building with its two distinctive fountains is a Munich icon. But there is much more to the university, which has a large number of state-of-the-art teaching and research buildings, libraries, hospital complexes, and agricultural facilities – not to forget the Wendelstein Observatory in the Bavarian Alps. In total, 125 buildings, in and around Munich.
Over the coming years, LMU will be expanding its facilities through an ambitious development program. Previously scattered faculties and disciplines will be brought together at individual sites. This major campus development initiative will further enhance the university’s international attractiveness as a leading research location.
On completion of the works, LMU will have five large, fully developed campus sites.
