LMU's environmental guidelines

As a center of academic research and teaching, LMU bears responsibility for the future of coming generations. The university is aware of its role as a model institution. Environmental awareness is therefore one of its guiding principles - an expression of its identity as universitas.

LMU seeks to actively contribute to sustainable development and to promoting environmentally conscious behavior among its staff and students.

The following principles serve as binding guidelines:

  • Environmental protection is a key objective of the university and is taken into account in all decision-making processes.
  • LMU is committed to continuously reducing its consumption of resources and energy, its emissions, its waste production and its wastewater discharges. To this end, the University regularly participates in the ECOPROFIT Munich environmental initiative.
  • Environmental aspects are taken into account in all of the university's investments and procurement processes. Wherever possible, environmentally friendly products and processes are given preference. Suppliers and contractors are included in these efforts.
  • LMU aims to go beyond the mere fulfillment of environmental regulations.
  • The university promotes the environmental awareness among its staff and students and supports them in their environmentally conscious actions. This includes actively addressing environmental issues - especially in the context of research and teaching.
  • LMU regularly informs both staff and the public about the university's environmental protection activities.
