Cloud Printing

Cloud printing means the possibility of having any documents printed for a fee on devices at the LMU.

Access to Cloud Printing

Cloud Printing allows you to send a print request from any of your devices to the designated printers at LMU and the University Library. These printers are marked with a sticker. You can then print your documents there for a fee. You can print a wide variety of file formats, such as Office documents, PDFs, and images.

When sending the print request and when printing, you identify yourself using the Student Services card number on your LMUcard or Legic card.

Printing and copying are also billed via the LMUcard or the Legic card (“cafeteria card” or “copy card”) issued by the Student Services. Scanning, however, is free of charge—whether using the book scanners or the scanning function on the copiers.

Access to Cloud Printing

All LMU students, staff, and visitors can use this service provided they have an LMUcard or Legic card.

In the LMU computer labs, LMUcard holders can upload printouts directly via the printer driver.

Payment methods

Legic card, LMUcard/Student Card issued by TUM, HM and Hochschule Rosenheim

Payment for copies and prints at the photocopiers can be made with the LMUcard or the "Student Card" of the TUM, the HM or Hochschule Rosenheim, or with the Legic card of the Munich Student Union.

Other individuals (non-LMU members)

Non-LMU members are also permitted to purchase a Legic-card from the Studierendenwerk. This "guest card" allows them to use the copying facilities.

Further Informations

1. Diagram Cloud Printing (PDF, 1,555 KB)

2. Video tutorials on how to use devices (only German version)

3. Scanned documents that are too large to send by email are sent via a link using the student cloud printing system with the canteen card.
Please note: Links are only generated when the standard interface (ScanPRO) is used. If the Ricoh interface is used (this can be selected separately), the large document will be split into several emails. Sent links are valid for 72 hours.

Data security, data protection and copyright

Saving and print orders

Print orders and scanned files that are consolidated into a link are stored on a server that is installed at the Leibniz-Rechenzentrum der Bayerischen Akademie der Wissenschaften (Leibniz Computing Centre of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences). The Leibniz-Rechenzentrum der Bayerischen Akademie der Wissenschaften is responsible for the administration of this server. Data processing takes place in the Münchner Wissenschaftsnetz (Munich Scientific Network). After printing, the print jobs are automatically deleted. If no printing is performed or scan links are not accessed, the print jobs and links will be automatically deleted after three days.

Data encryption

Individual print jobs are sent via an encrypted internet connection and are encrypted on both the server and the copier devices. Only by authenticating with the LMUcard or Legic card assigned to the print job can it be retrieved and decrypted.

Copyright

The legal provisions of copyright law apply when copying, scanning and printing (information on copyright).
