Non-profit foundations are a vital part of the German academic system and provide researchers with opportunities to further their career and carry out research projects. In this series, you will have the opportunity to familiarize yourself with the programmes of the
- Alexander von Humboldt-Foundation,
- Fritz Thyssen Foundation,
- Volkswagen Foundation and
- Gerda Henkel Foundation.
In 2025, an event catered to the needs of medical research will be a special.
Alexander von Humboldt-Foundation
In our kick-off event you will get to know the Alexander von Humboldt-Foundation (AvH). The AvH connects outstanding academics from all over the world. According to their motto to "support people not projects" it offers opportunities to either come to a German research institution or to go abroad.
Therefore, we welcome
- LMU early career researchers planning to apply for a fellowship abroad,
- LMU academics planning to host international fellows
- and their potential guests
to familiarize themselves with these opportunities.
Mira Albus of the AvH will introduce you to the foundation’s different programmes.
We could also acquire the expertise of Prof. Dr. Armin Selbitschka, who is a scout for the AvH and hosts Humboldt fellows, and Dr. Markus Laubach, who recently returned from a Feodor Lynen fellowship. Both will present their experiences with the AvH and how the Humboldt programmes benefit research careers. Right after the presentations, you will have the chance to ask the referees your questions in a Q&A session.
