Saudi influencers have dominated the Arabic-speaking YouTube space since the mid-2010s. Deeply embedded in commercial structures and media systems on the Gulf, they align themselves with global standards. In my lecture, I would like to explore the global and regional dimensions of digital content, but also its national dimension. Beyond these issues, I will examine the theory and methodological practice of how research into influencers can be pursued in the context of future Arab media studies.
A lecture by Sabrina Zahren (LMU Munich) as part of the series "Cultures of Islam: Current Research" organized by 4MZ.
The event will be held in German. You can find more information on the website of the lecture series.
