The force field that is the international order is becoming increasingly volatile. Right now, the eyes of many are fixed on Washington: What does President Trump have planned for his second term in office? Will the USA step back from its role as global policeman? Will the conflict with China intensify? Whatever transpires, Europe will, more than ever, be forced to stand on its own two feet. But is the Old Continent adequately prepared to do so? And what will be the repercussions of military conflicts and the fall of the Assad regime in Syria? Is there a way out of the crisis? Or will the region remain a powder keg in perpetuity? What are the prospects for stabilizing international security?
The Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities and Bavarian broadcaster Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR) will address these issues at a joint event ahead of the Munich Security Conference. In three 45-minute panels, scientific and media experts will place the focus on the USA, Europe and the Middle East respectively.
