“I look forward to this year’s “FamilyCare@LMU” diversity initiative with eager anticipation. In the 2025 summer semester, we want to continue our engagement and strengthen the culture of respectful collegiality at LMU, where family needs are recognized and specifically considered.
We want to take current social challenges into account, take different perspectives on board, and further advance the understanding of work-life balance at our university. To do this, we’re also looking at recent research as a deliberate strategy for finding innovative solutions and new paths.
It’s our firm intention that all members of the LMU community – irrespective of their origin, lifestyle, or family obligations – experience support and can realize their full potential.
To this end, we’re building on the successful “WeCare@LMU” and “Belonging@LMU” programs, which are already helping promote the health and wellbeing of our members and strengthen the sense of togetherness within the LMU community.“

“My first day at LMU was 1 March. And so the 2025 summer semester will be special for me because there will be new students in my group, starting their theses and semester projects. In addition, I’ll be giving my first lecture here in Munich – on machine learning for quantum systems – an exciting, topical subject. I’ve already received some emails from interested students and am looking forward to a full lecture hall.
Together with my group, I’ll also be offering a ‘theory lab’ at quantum machine learning in the ‘AI in Physics’ master's program this summer. I’m excited to see how the students will respond. Otherwise, I’m just looking forward to the summer in Munich — my inflatable water hammock is ready to go."

There’s always activity going on hereLena Berg, Head of Decentral Libraries Department at University Library
Looking forward to the start of the new semester, although the University Library is always busy: Lena Berg, Head of Decentral Libraries Department at University Library.
“The University Library is an essential facility for studying and working. This makes it all the more gratifying that all our locations, including the new Leo 13 and UniLounge learning centers, are so popular among students.
Whether during semesters or between them, there’s always activity going on here. To further improve access to the library, we’re simplifying the borrowing conditions for the start of the new semester. In addition, some subject libraries will be facilitating autonomous borrowing and returning in future – entirely without the intervention of library staff.”

“In the new semester, I’m looking forward to supporting students to the best of my capabilities in my role as inclusion tutor. Having learned so many exciting things about inclusion during my training, I’m keen to help other students better adapt their studies to their individual needs.
I’m excited about the tutors that will be trained this year and the great new ideas they will bring with them. I hope our efforts will make the university, and my campus in particular, a more pleasant learning environment where everybody feels comfortable and well looked after.”

“In the new semester, I’m especially looking forward to the premiere of Partici|bait, a participatory project we’re currently working on. And the same goes for all student projects that will be celebrating the premieres of their own productions here during the summer semester.”
