Students who are or were properly registered for their desired degree program at a university in Germany may choose to change location and come to LMU. These are known as “location changers”.
"Lateral applicants" are students who apply to join a degree program later than the first semester, on the basis of creditable academic achievements, or because their chosen degree program was previously only offered outside Germany.
The calculation of how many prior semesters are relevant for registration will be made by the Examination Office responsible for the program in question. - Can I reserve a place for the next semester?
Please note that applications are freshly processed every semester. If you are offered a place in a degree program and do not accept it, it is not possible to "reserve" this place for an upcoming semester.

No, applicants must always register with LMU university admissions on the specified registration date, after passing the aptitude assessment. Proof of passing the aptitude assessment must be submitted in writing when registering for the relevant degree program (or when changing degree programs).

Bildungsinländer are foreign citizens or stateless people with a university entrance qualification from a school in Germany, or with a German university entrance qualification from an international German school.
The Office of the University Registrar, Unit 1, verifies qualifications belonging to German applicants that were issued by international institutions, within the framework of the admission and/or registration process. In case of doubt, the Zeugnisanerkennungsstelle für den Freistaat Bayern (Qualification Recognition Office for the Free State of Bavaria) can be consulted.
Decisions made by the relevant authorities in other German states are recognized, unless there is a significant violation of a particular agreement of the Standing Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs.
