LMU PLUS: Foundations for Academic Writing

Termin:

3-day workshop (+ individual virtual consultation)

21. Mai 2025 - 4. Juni 2025

Präsenz-Workshop

In this workshop, information is provided to develop the skill of writing for students first encountering academic writing. Here, participants will explore what academic writing is by developing an awareness for the required text structure of standard research papers in English. Then, the workshop focuses on linguistical and stylistic norms for these texts. Through the highlighted linguistic, stylistic, and structural norms, the participants learn what to focus on when wanting to communicate effectively.

In addition, the workshop offers an introduction to the writing process and developing a writing habit. Professional input from the trainer will alternate with practical written exercises and discussions. During the workshop, participants will complete and submit a text after the third day. Finally, a virtual individual consultation will be scheduled for each participant via Zoom as a fourth and final session on 24th June 2025. On this day, participants will receive an individual consultation that will focus on this text as well as any specific questions the participant may have.
