International Conference on Wealth Inequality: The Munich International Stone Center for Inequality Research (ISI) is hosting a research conference in Munich from 9 - 11 October 2025.
This interdisciplinary and international conference is dedicated to a topic of rising concern in many countries: wealth inequality. The conference brings together a broad set of scholars and disciplines that contribute to our understanding of wealth inequality, its extent and trends, determinants, and consequences. It also seeks to strengthen an international network of junior and established wealth scholars.
The focus is on wealth as a separate dimension of inequality, understood as net worth or specific assets (e.g. housing wealth, business ownership, debt). We invite contributions from all disciplinary perspectives and methodological traditions (such as quantitative, qualitative, experimental or comparative-historical). Papers may address descriptive questions on wealth inequality, analyze the determinants of wealth inequality or study its various social, economic and political consequences.
The conference will feature two keynote speakers: Annette Lareau and Lane Kenworthy.
The conference will also include a conference dinner, networking opportunities and an optional field trip.
Please submit a 1-3 page extended abstract or a full paper with the subject line “Wealth Conference 2025” to wealthconference@isi-munich.de by April 28, 2025 (CET)
Participation Costs: Participants will need to cover their own travel costs and accommodation (we have reserved a limited number of rooms at a discounted rate in local hotels). There is no conference fee and all lunches and dinner during the conference will be provided.
