Aptitude assessments
Some degree programs have separate selection criteria that include an aptitude assessment.
Aptitude assessments are carried out by the institution (institute, department, faculty) that offers the degree program in question.
The format, content and deadlines for such aptitude assessments sometimes differ considerably. It is also not always a "test" in the sense of a written or oral examination at the University — in some cases the written documents a candidate submits are evaluated.
Detailed information, such as dates and requirements of each procedure, can be found on the corresponding degree program's websites.
The aptitude assessment does not replace registration — it is a prerequisite for registration on these degree programs. Proof of successful participation in the aptitude assessment must be submitted when registering in (or changing subjects to) such degree programs.
Major and minor subjects
If your degree program consists of a combination of several subjects (e.g. major and minor subject; information on this can be found in the LMU Degree Program Finder), it is essential that you also visit the study page of the desired additional subject and click on "study place" there as well. Different subjects may have different entry requirements and procedures.

Please read the following explanations carefully. Select the category that applies to your status to get more information regarding next steps:
German citizens (even if they have dual citizenship!) should always choose the category "Germans and Bildungsinländer," even if they received their university entrance qualification abroad (also International Baccalaureate).
Foreign citizens, please choose the category "Germans and Bildungsinländer" if you received your university entrance qualification in Germany or at a German school abroad. The same applies if — after receiving a degree from a German university or university of applied sciences with a standard period of study of at least 6 semesters (bachelor's degree, state examination) — you would like to continue your studies in the same field at LMU (master's degree) or begin a new undergraduate program.
Please note: Foreign citizens who, after receiving their university entrance qualification abroad, have successfully completed a degree program at a German university or university of applied sciences with a standard period of study of at least 6 semesters are Bildungsinländer.

Citizens of the EU member states (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Czech Republic) or the EEA member states (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway) please choose the category "EU/EEA citizens."
This also applies in the case of dual citizenship with a non-EU/EEA member state and also if, after receiving a degree from a German university or university of applied sciences with a standard period of study of at least 6 semesters (bachelor's degree, state examination), you would like to continue your studies in the same field at LMU (master's degree) or begin a new undergraduate program.
All other foreign citizens please select the category "non-EU citizens." This category also applies for candidates who received their university entrance qualification abroad and received a degree from a German university or university of applied sciences with a standard period of study of less than 6 semesters and wish to begin a new undergraduate program (that does not build upon their existing third level qualifications) at LMU.
